American Badgers (Taxidea taxus) are in the weasel group and not to be confused with the African honey badger or the European badgers of which there are several. This skull is particularly distinctive by having a very thick neck resulting in an animal with rigid, inflexible neck. Many American mammals are sourced through road-kill and trapping which is a regulated but legal enterprise. Even rare species (eg, bobcats) are permitted for hunting but trade is banned and real skulls are not available.
